Bacon and ice cream to become a standard?

Some years ago, when Burger King offered Bacon Sundays in the USA, this was a kind of new unsaid rules that had been infringed...

In between, bacon had become a kind of hype, and it seems normal that 5 Guys is launching milk shake with bacon!

Mövenpick frozen Yogurt

It is not usual that big food companies are at the edge of food innovation (in the meaning of new product category), as this position is hardly conciliable with sustainable growth. That's why it can be seen as quite surprising that Nestlé recently launched Frozen Yogurt Under its Mövenpick brand.

They can already be found in take away consumption, and should be available soon in shop.

Is Mövenpick launching Frozen Yogurt meaning that Mövenpick is becoming innovative or that Frozen Yogurt is not an innovative product anymore ?

Moving from sweet to savory : Vegetable Ice Cream from Haagen-Dazs

Haagen-Dazs is about two launch two new flavors in Japan in its "Spoon Vege" range : Carrot and Tomato.

Some might say there was already some veggies ice cream in restaurant or ice cream parlor (like rosmarin sorbet), but we do believe this is the first industrial launch of vegetable ice cream.  After the savoury yogurt, is this a kind of trend to take an indulgent food, and to put some "healthy" ingredients in it ? Or the other way round, to make a treat out of non attractive food ?

Design + taste + trends + local = Yeti Frozen Custard

Located in Texas, the Yeti is an ice cream food truck which started in 2012. Actually not an ice cream truck, but a Frozen Custard one, which seems deliciously yummy... As their products were quite succesfull, they now sell them in (selected)  supermarkets, keeping the great design.
Beyond the ice cream, it is interesting to see how food truck can be a good way to test a concept before to go to market.

Mini spark : Pop corn ice cream at Baskins-Robbins

Movie Theater Popcorn Ice Cream

The January flavor of the month at Baskins-Robbins is pop corn. So it seems that the pop corn trends goes wider into confectionnery... Looking at the ingredient list (quite amazing number of stuffs in), it seems there is no pop corn inside, but corn syrup, caramel, salt and aroma.

Retro design Ice Cream

Hansens is not only a producer of very good ice cream sold in Denmark (http://www.hansens-is.dk/), it is also a producer with taste, as it asked Mads Berg (http://www.madsberg.dk/) to draw their ads. The results is simply great !
