Is hangover food a white spot?

Lonely Planet recently issued an online article on Hangover foods in which they present the different foods used in the world to fight hangover.

Beyond the text and food topic, what would a hangover food look like ? Could we imagine to have a "Hangover fix", which would look like a mix of cheese, fat and sugar to put on your pasta and make them ready to face hangover ?

Kellogs for night

Since some weeks, Kellog's cereals are available in the US with a new design. Dark blue, stars, moon are covering the packaging, with the words "Good. Night. Snacks" and a nice text explaining why you should not feel guilty about being hungry before going to sleep and why Kellogg's cereals are the best snack in this case...

(picture from www.notcot.com)

Interestingly, by positioning their products for another time frame as breakfast, Kellogg's also manages to target a totally different public. One might even use the word geek....

Flatev : when DolceGusto meets a wafle maker

Flatev is a machine that should be soon available (suscription are already open at http://flatev.com/) and fills a gap in the "I want fresh product at home but I don't want to cook" segment (there are still some place remaining apparently) : the tortillas.

The device works with pads (Dolce Gusto like) filled with dow. Put the pad in the machine, push the button and, miracle !, a tortilla is coming out !!!!

Launching product (blindly?) following market trends : BBQUE Sauce

We recently discovered Macandoo, a Bavarian-based company offering  Food Products and Beverages, Information Technology (IT), and "Others". They claim to "infuse innovative ideas" and to "identify and analyze markets needs" to find the exact white spot for a new product. (http://www.macandoo.com/index.html)

Although the Macandoo website looks a bit arrogant, one can only say they did their job good for their first product, a Bavarian BBQ sauce. The website (http://www.bbque.de/de/) is available in both german and bayrisch, with a clear target on young connoisseur who want to consume local but with a good universal taste. The product itself strongly carries the same message.

Panzani Dessert Dumpling

Imagine that your favorite car's brand is launching a new model. How innovative would you rate that? Now imagine that your favorite car's brand is launching a SUV model. How innovative would you rate that?

Well,we got a bit the second feeling when we saw that Panzani is stepping in the dessert range with sweet sumplings (banana filling and chocolate sauce, or strawberry filling with vanilla sauce). The idea is quite simple : using an existing format, and  bringing it into a new category.Consumers know the format, and like the sweet : who would not try?

We are really curious to see how this works out!

Numi Savory tea : Garden your cup!

The Numi Savory tea appeared already some years ago in the US, but only recently in Europe. As they launched in US, they were quite unsure how people would react, and they made a facebook campaign to collect ideas and feedbacks on this new kind of product.

The idea is to combine tea and vegetable for something with is not quite a soup, but is more a tea. Let's see how long it will take before to see it in restaurant, or even a savoury tea bar...

Supergeil Clip : when Private Label again show their dynamism

Edeka is a supermarket chain in Germany, which recently restyled and redesigned its private label products. To support this action, they associate with German artist Friedrich Liechtenstein, who made a remake of one his song. The result is quite good, and definitly brings Edeka brand away from the idea that private label can be boring. And once again, private label show that they can highly dynamic!

And now is coming the Cragel ...

We obviously should have seen this one coming... After the Cronut and all its variation (http://umamispark.blogspot.de/search/label/Cronut), the Bagel Store in Brooklyn (http://www.thebagelstoreonline.com/) is launching the Cragel, a mix of Croissant and Bagel. According to USA Today, "the cragel was a concept owner Scot Rossillo came up with years ago. But he didn't feel the time was right for the cragel until now."

So, let's see when it arrives in Europe. Here are two pictures from http://instagram.com/thebagelstore#
